Fabulous Skin at Every Age: How to be in the 50s and Still Love Your Skin

These days it’s more than clear that aging gracefully doesn’t rely on just one secret potion. Rather, it takes a collection of products that help restore, protect, and regenerate your skin cells to keep your complexion looking bright, smooth, and firm.

To aid you on your quest of turning back time, we’ve rounded up the best anti-aging products to introduce to your routine. From natural beauty wonders to tried-and-true favorite masks, oils, peels, and moisturizers, these wrinkle-reducing and glow-inducing workhorses turn back the sands of time.

Cleanse and Tone For Better Skin

For daily face-washing, mature skin should be treated with a mild, non-irritating cleanser that won’t strip the skin of its natural oils or irritate dry and sensitive skin. For those with dryer skin, it’s best to use a cleanser that provides good barrier protection with skin-protective ingredients like ceramides.

Exfoliate—But Don’t Overdo It

In terms of exfoliation, both physical (scrubs) and chemical (AHAs and BHAs) may be used on mature skin—but proceed with caution. With women over 50, the outer layer of skin becomes thinner and more delicate. To avoid aggravation take a minimal approach to physical exfoliation, which can cause micro-tears on the epidermis if you get carried away.

To buff away dead skin cells safely use a gentle scrub no more than three times a week and follow it up with a calming elixir with soothing ingredients such as ceramide and chamomile. For mild chemical exfoliation, try Natural Replenishing Cleansing Gel with Aloe Vera For Deeply Cleaned and Restored Skin, which is gentle enough for daily use.

Restore Volume Loss With Extra Moisture on your skin

Starting in your 30s and 40s, hyaluronic levels begin to decrease, which is what makes fine lines and deep wrinkles more noticeable. When applied topically, hyaluronic acid can help replenish and retain cell moisture (it holds 1,000 times its weight in water), which is why it’s such a common ingredient in both serums and moisturizers—particularly in formulas targeting mature skin.

Serums are higher concentrations of ingredients than we are using in creams or lotions. It not only delivers hyaluronic acids to the dermis, but its complex chains of different hyaluronic acids stimulate the production of your own hyaluronic acid, increasing the resilience of your own skin.

To seal in a supercharged serum, look to a moisturizer laced with ingredients that will help mimic and help restore the skin barrier, such as Swiss Power’s new Regenerative Body Cream with Hyaluron. Which combines ceramides and a special peptide complex to calm irritation and minimize redness.

Treat Wrinkles and Hyperpigmentation Carefully

For wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and invisible photodamage, look to retinol, a derivative of vitamin A that when applied topically, promotes skin renewal, brightens skin tone, clearing up hyperpigmentation, and aids in the production of collagen. It is available both in prescription strength and over-the-counter, and it’s best to consult your dermatologist to advise on the right potency and best retinol type to use.

Retinol can be especially beneficial intending to eye-area concerns, working in combination with peptides to stimulate new collagen, and in turn, support the laxity of the tissue. To address puffiness and bags, an eye cream such as Regenerative Face & Under Eye Revitalizing Serum Concentrate by Swiss Power could do the trick!

This eye cream is made specifically to provide that extra boost like a face mask does. Infused with hyaluronic acid, Coenzyme Q10, and Beeswax, each of these helps to heal, plump, and soothe dry skin.

It’s never too early to start using a retinoid product! Dermatologists have access to some of the most effective in-office options, like injectable and laser treatments, but they also know what’s up when it comes to topical products you can use in your everyday routine, like moisturizers, serums, and eye creams.

Luckily, you don’t have to visit a dermatologist every time you want to get a great product. Just visit us at Swiss Power! We have a variety of products containing hyaluronic acid, retinol, and gentles cleansers. From natural beauty wonders to tried-and-true favorite masks, oils, peels, and moisturizers, these wrinkle-reducing and glow-inducing workhorses turn back the sands of time.
