Washing your face has become a bit of a mystery. There are 100s of products out there to dry your face up or add moisture depending on whether your skin is dry or oily. Then there’s normal skin that’s somewhere in between? You’ve got scrubs and masks to get all the dirt out and tighten your pores. Some products will tell you to use them twice a day, some will be once a week. But how do we know which one is right?
So, What’s the Verdict?
Experts say that twice a day is the perfect amount. This is because bacteria builds up whilst you’re sleeping and a face wash in the morning removes this and preps your skin for your morning routine, whether that’s just moisturizing or whether you’re going to be using make-up, it still takes prep. The nighttime wash then removes any left-over make-up or dirt from your day.
Washing is making my Skin too Dry
Depending on your skin type, washing your face too often could cause dryness, especially if you’re using oil free products. In this case, you can switch to just one wash a day for a while. You’ll need to make sure that this was is the evening one as most of the dirt build up will happen during the day. Make sure you still complete your routine moisturize after your wash to allow your skin to repair itself over night. The top layer of epidermis recovers whilst you’re sleeping, and any make-up or oil left over can obstruct this process.

Swiss Power even offer an anti-wrinkle serum to help you avoid those pesky crows’ feet.
How Long Should I Wash my Face for?
It does seem weird that there would be an optimum time that you should spend on washing your face. It takes as long as it takes, right? But studies have proven that the more attention you pay to the timing, the more attention you’re paying to washing every little bit of your face.
Counting the time helps to focus you and gives you something to work towards. It’s just like dentists telling us to brush our teeth for two minutes. Electric toothbrushes now even time us to do that. So, why not do the same for your face?
Each face wash should take around 20 seconds, (including the Mississippi’s in between).
Your skin care routine after your wash should take the same amount of time. Make sure your moisturizer is rubbed in completely to get the best results.
How to Wash your Face Effectively
You’ll need to use a very soft wash cloth, or even just your hands. This protects the skin barrier and will help you to keep your skin moist. Throw your washcloths in the wash after each use. Bacteria can accumulate on a damp cloth very quickly, so using them more than once could be harmful to your skin.
You should use warm water, not hot. Hot water removes the moisture from your skin and can dry it out if you’re not careful. You’ll need it to be slightly cooler than your normal bath water.
To start the wash, take your Swiss Power natural face cleansing gel and start massaging this in from the top of your forehead in little circles. Then work your way downwards to your chin. You should be able to do this and go back up again before your 20 seconds is up.
Rinse off the remaining residue with your warm water and towel dry in a dabbing motion. Don’t be too vigorous, you don’t want to add anything back into your pores.
Then grab your moisturizing cream to give you that extra glow.
You’re all finished! Easy right?
